What motivated you to become president?

Aditi: I think the biggest reason is probably because I’ve been here so long and I’ve seen Woodstock go through so many things. Some good things and some not so great. I knew there were things that I did not like here so to sort of just at least give it a shot to try to see if we could change them a little bit and try to restore the sense of community we had. That’s what I’ve been working on since day one.

Sangjun: The reason I decided to run for this position is because seeing people smile makes me happy. By serving the students as a student leader, I wanted to ensure that individuals feel comfortable, happy and as though Woodstock is home. Over the last seven years, I have witnessed a lot of changes that Woodstock has gone through – I wanted to run for this position to bring back the culture that made Woodstockers who they once were.

If you could create a new school tradition. What would it be, and how would it bring the  school community together?

Aditi: Bald for a cause. Something like that should happen every year but the problem with that is we can’t do the same thing repeatedly. I think one of the biggest reasons it was a huge hit was because it happened so rarely, like this was the first time, but just traditions like that. I think events where people do something in order to raise money through something a bit more sacrificial is a great thing. It’s great that people play football. But it was really cool to see people just chopping hair off their head in order to raise money for a cause.

Sangjun: Make your own pizza day – Woodstockers love pizza, and I would like to start this tradition where students get to choose their own toppings for their own pizza, and bake them on their own!

If you could pick any historical character or celebrity to share the presidency podium with you, who would it be?

Aditi: Probably Kermit the Frog. I think Kermit is quite cool.

Sangjun: Charlie Chaplin – to bring a sense of entertainment and relatablity to the community.

What’s your go-to tangerine order?

Aditi: It depends on the weather. But if it’s cold then a vanilla latte, and if it’s hot an iced vanilla latte.

Sangjun: Peach iced tea

What is one of the main changes that you want to implement during your presidency?

Aditi: We’ve already started working on this. I know, it’s like a very big thing, but for the most part, just transparency. Even with small changes that are being implemented within StuCo to admin, just making sure that everyone knows what’s happening in the school, they don’t necessarily have to agree because realistically speaking, 500 people are not going to agree on the same thing, but as long as people know what’s happening, and they know that if they have concerns, they can voice their opinions, which is why some of the initial work we’ve done is with having these anonymous forms in place, having these check ins, making sure that even if we have the smallest update we share it. I think that is really important.

Sangjun: The main goal that we are working towards is transparency and breaking the barrier between StuCo and the student body. We are working towards this idea to break the “exclusive” image. We want to make the Student council more approachable, where students can comfortably share their concerns or new ideas to be implemented. We’ve implemented the monthly check-in for each dorm where the student presidents take down notes on the concerns the student bodies are facing (in small groups where students are comfortable speaking up), and an anonymous form that allows students to raise concerns to StuCo without mentioning their identity.

What is your favorite thing about Woodstock students?

Aditi: I think my favorite thing is that, even though students have their differences here, which I think is true for any community, when it really comes down to it, students come together, and even if there’s people that you don’t like, when it comes to things that matter, everyone unites, which I think is very incredible.

Sangjun: My favorite thing about Woodstock students are the amazing abilities and talent that every individual has. There are so many opportunities to learn, grow and share ideas with each other.

What is a fun fact about you that not a lot of people know?

Aditi: My child is my toy Paco and he is an alpaca.

I can guess the type of aircraft by looking at its fuselage and its winglet. In addition, I can guess the type of aircraft engine used by just listening to the sound – It’s not perfect and I am still working on it!
