Manav and Selma are a couple at Woodstock who have been dating for five months. Have you ever met a couple who has tried almost everything on Kairo’s menu and have matching pink and blue dinosaurs they bought each other? Also, Manav once bought Selma the exact amount of flowers for how many weeks they had been dating. Now, if you ask me, they come close to being the cutest couple in Woodstock.
Asha is Selma’s best friend. Manav and Asha were each asked specific questions about Selma to see who knew her best.
What is something Selma loves doing in her free time?
Manav: Napping – 100%. I text her and then I get a text back after 3 hours saying “Sorry I fell asleep”.
Asha: Watch tik tok or murder mysteries.
Selma: I love to take naps. Every single day if I could I would nap for three hours. It brings me so much joy.
What color does Selma wear the most?
Manav: Anything pink.
Asha: Pink.
Selma: Probably blue or pink.
If she were to trade places with someone, who would it be?
Manav: Miss Katerina. She would love to give hell to her students.
Asha: President of the United States?
Selma: The president of the United States or someone who works in a frozen yogurt place so I can have unlimited ice cream.
If Selma had to be a season, which one would she be and why?
Manav: My gut says winter, but for me, she’s more like spring because she is a very comforting person and every time I’m with her, it feels like a nice warm hug. I also feel like I should indicate that I am NOT a simp for saying this.
Asha: Spring or winter because she is very bright, and winter because she likes the cold and the snow.
Selma: Spring, or Winter because it is very cold and I like cold weather, I also really spring because of the flowers, it is a very positive season.
If Selma could teleport to any place right now, where would she go?
Manav: To Italy. We have always dreamed of going to Italy together. It’s got the best of both worlds – the ocean (and Italians, please don’t kill me) for me and pasta for Selma (she makes very good pasta).
Asha: Somewhere she could ski. Wherever Manav is; I do not know where they wanna travel tho.
Selma: Italy or Japan.
What is one thing Selma values the most?
Manav: Honesty. Just be straightforward with her. She hates being lied to and people talking behind her back. She also values the pink dinosaur I bought her a lot.
Asha: Good food. Specifically Rokeby butter chicken.
Selma: Honesty. Because I think all relationships are built on being truthful.
If Selma could go back and give her freshman self one piece of advice before graduation, what would it be?
Manav: Don’t stress too much. Life plays out the way it’s meant to – it always does.
Asha: Don’t do IB.
Selma: Try to be nice to everyone and try to do a lot of fun things to remember later. Focus on your studies.
What’s Selma’s biggest pet peeve?
Manav: Not replying on time – which is ironic because she takes three-hour naps and doesn’t reply but she always calls me out for that. And also not replying to every single reel of hers with a personalized message.
Asha: I don’t know. When people trash-talk state schools?
Selma: Really slow walkers. Manav isn’t my biggest pet peeve.
How did Selma and Manav meet?
Manav: Funny story, It was Global Politics class with Miss Katerina, and Selma would not shut up. Being a teacher’s pet I called her out on one of her points to win Miss K’s admiration. That was our ‘proper’ meeting, but we did meet during the school tour where our moms met.
Asha: I have no idea. Probably in GP class.
Selma: Um, before we came to school, we were doing the school tour and he was there. He didn’t take any common subjects, and then we took GP. I met his grandma on the same day and his mom. All three generations. His mom said I looked like an art student, and she was surprised to know that I had taken Chemistry HL. Wait, and he was wearing his blue Oxford hoodie.
What is Manav’s favorite thing about Selma?
Manav: Honestly, her love for trying new things. Be it food dates to Kairos (even though most of it is too spicy) or reducing the spice in Sunil Ji’s frankies. I also love the fact that she is currently learning Hindi through Duolingo. She also listens to my music and vibes with it.
Asha: I think her intelligence because they talk about GP a lot together, and I think also her compassion.
Selma: Maybe that I’m very supportive and kind.
What is something people would be surprised to learn about Selma?
Manav: She’s the biggest foodie ever. Needs a good bite in the US – hit up Selma.
Asha: I think she is a lot smarter than most people realize because she is very humble about it.
Selma: I am a really good tennis player.
Who’s funnier?
Manav: Me. She cannot resist my dad jokes and 13-year-old boy humor. So, Asha, Arjuna, and I would agree with this.
Asha: In my opinion, Manav because he and I have the same sense of humor. But that’s not a compliment to either of us.
Selma: Probably Manav. It depends on what time of humor, but overall Manav is very good at making people laugh.
