Woodstock’s campus is huge, but we don’t always get the chance to explore it between classes, activities, and everything else. If you’re looking for a good study spot, especially during the intense exam season, where exactly are the best places to go? Here’s a breakdown of some of the best options, each with its pros and cons.
The following ratings are based solely on the author’s preferences.
Library (Back Side)
This quiet, curtained-off corner of the library is one of the coziest spots on campus. Comfortable chairs, bean bags (if you’re lucky), and fireplaces make it perfect for all typing-based assignments. The lighting is great, and the smell of books adds to the atmosphere. There is also barely any space on the table, so make sure to think about this one.
Score: 7.8/10 – Great when it’s quiet, but a disaster when crowded.

Music Practice Rooms
The practice rooms are a solid option if you don’t mind sitting on a carpet and enjoying some background music. They’re warm, usually quiet, and have plug points in every room, which is great if your laptop is dying. Though it isn’t ideally used for studying, it’s a great place to go. Do remember, however, that there are no tables or chairs, so if you need to write on paper, this isn’t the place for you. This is, however, every music student’s spot, so space isn’t always guaranteed.
Score: 6.2/10 – Cozy and peaceful, but not meant for studying

Midlands Study Stalls and Lounges
If you want privacy at the dorms, Midlands study stalls are your best bet. These stalls, built in the first place, are great for studying (but are mainly available only to Grade 10). The curtains close you out from the world, and each stall has a table, chair, and plug points—everything a student needs. However, your focus depends quite a bit on how loud your grade is. It’s also quite cold in the winter, so bringing a blanket is a good idea.
Score: 6.7/10 – Best dorm study spot; a mix of tables and sitting space, but noise and the cold can be issues.
MY Lounge
MY Lounge can be a great spot if you get the time right. It has comfortable seating, round tables, great sunlight, better lighting, and a decent atmosphere, but at peak hours (lunch and flex time), it gets a little too busy. This would be perfect for any sort of group work, whether it’s making posters, assignment-oriented tasks, or more. Plug points are also in the worst possible places, so unless you have a long charger, it’s not ideal.
Score: 6.4/10 – Good setup, but too crowded and distracting at times.

Dining Hall Corner Tables
If you want to be near your friends but still want to focus, the corner tables in the Dining Hall are the best spot ever. They have plug points (though not all work), and the best part remains constant access to food, snacks, and hot cocoa! Try to grab a table in the corner to stay away from the main chaos, and yet be close enough to your friends for the little study breaks. These tables are the perfect size for any sort of work involving paper, especially if it’s during a free period (where the dining hall is generally deserted). This is also only good if you don’t get distracted too easily.
Score: 9.7/10 – Convenient and cozy, as long as you avoid peak meal times.

Writing Centre
Tucked away right under the library, the Writing Centre is perfect if you need absolute focus. With huge tables, chairs, lighting, and too much space, it’s one of the best places to get work done. There are plug points, though they are scarce, but there’s rarely anyone in there, so you can work, write, and type like never before. This is perfect if you’re a person who gets distracted easily, works great for group projects, or self-studying.
Score: 9.4/10 – Quiet, well-equipped, and great for focusing.

CFI (Centre for Imagination)
CFI is far from everything, making it one of the quietest places to study. The benches aren’t the most comfortable for any writing, but the view and fresh air make up for it. If you sit inside, you get the perfect amount of sunlight, peace, and space. It’s a great spot for writing or thinking, though midday sun can make screen visibility a bit tricky.
Score: 8.9/10 – Quiet and peaceful, great for getting away from everything.

Outside the School Clinic (Tea Garden)
Located behind the School Clinic, the Tea Garden is a great mix of fresh air and sunlight. The tables are surrounded by trees, and the views are spectacular, always- making it the perfect place to study. This is the perfect spot for both self-study and group work, and is perfectly tucked away from all the noise.
Score: 9.1/10 – Good weather, good view, and not crowded

Each of these spots has its pros and cons, so the best one depends on your study style. Whether you prefer quiet spaces, a cozy atmosphere, or easy access to snacks, there’s always a place on campus that’ll work for you perfectly.
My favourite study spots are the Dining Hall Corner Tables– there’s just something quite comforting about there always being good food, a constant supply of water, and friends around at all times. It’s a perfect hub for studying, whether that’s typing or working on paper. It has the funnest little breaks, and overall, it’s the perfect balance between productivity and connection, where I get to feel focused while not being closed off from everyone.
What’s yours? Test it out yourself and use the comments to share your favourite – or worst – study spots around campus or beyond. Happy studying!
